With the summer holidays in full swing, we are willing to bet that some of you are still looking for things to do with your children while they are off school.
The holidays are well known for being extremely hard hitting on the bank balance; with hotels and travel operators increasing prices over the holiday period. We’re here to tell you that the summer doesn’t have to cost the earth and even if you are seeking help with debt in Scotland, there are still activities that you can take part in to make the summer a fun and exciting time for the whole family.
Everyone loves a good scavenger hunt, no matter what age you are! Children of age 4 or 5 are easy to involve in a small group, but it also works for older children who may have friends over to play during the holidays.
Divide them up into teams and tell them the aim of the activity; find the items that you have listed for them! You don’t have to do this in your back garden and it is a perfect, no cost activity that you can take to the park, the beach, the forest… anywhere!
Give them items such as “something round” or “something bigger than your foot” to really get them thinking and foraging around!
Geocaching is a treasure hunt for the new digital age. It is an outdoor activity that requires the use of a GPS receiver or mobile device as well as being able to navigate effectively to find caches anywhere in the world.
These caches will contain a logbook and a pen or a pencil for the finder to log when they have located it. You must make sure that you place the cache back exactly where you have found it so that other geocachers who are searching can locate it and add to the book.
Why not get your children involved in the kitchen and have them make some tasty treats that the whole family can enjoy?
This is a great activity that not only helps you bond with your kids, but will help them develop their culinary skills! If you are thinking of going for a picnic, enlist the help of your children to make some picnic food! It is an exciting experience in which they will be able to taste the outcome of their hard work!
We hope that we have given you some great ideas for keeping your kids busy this summer. It doesn’t have to be an expensive time of year and if you are already struggling with debt, it doesn’t have to add extra stress to your life.
